Against the Ropes A factually based film about a plucky and prickly boxing manager, Jackie Kellan (Meg Ryan), who hires an oldtime trainer (Charles S. Dutton) to show a promising fighter (Omar Epps) the ropes despite overwhelming opposition from a ruthless boxing promoter (Tony Shalhoub) in Cleveland and other members of the old boy's club.
