Ruby's Town

A spirited, fact-filled, in-depth, entertaining documentary that chronicles through interviews and photographs the beginnings of Turkey Day in 1939 in the turkey-crazed town of Cuero, Texas; the onset of the turkey industry in 1912 and its subsequent downfall in the 1980s; the town's turkey-related activities, including the annual turkey trot, grand parades, the great gobbler gallop, and the Cuero Gobbler football team; and the friendly rivalry between Cuero, which claims to be the "turkey capital of the world" and is the home of race-running turkey Ruby Begonia, and Worthington, Minn., which also bills itself as the turkey capital of the world and is the home of turkey Paycheck (Ruby has won the Traveling Trophy of Tumultuous Triumph 14 times and Paycheck 19 times).
