Wendell Baker Story, The After a fast-talking, basically good hearted Texan (Luke Wilson) is released from prison for selling fake driver licenses with his friend (Jacob Vargas) to illegal Mexicans in this original, enjoyable, and satisfying 2005 Luke Wilson comedy, he tries to make amends to his cynical girlfriend (Eva Mendes), who is now dating a grocery store owner (Will Ferrell), and tries to help the elderly residents (Kris Kristofferson, Harry Dean Stanton, Seymour Cassell, et al.) at a government-sponsored retirement hotel run by a swindling nurse (Owen Wilson) and his dishonest cohort (Eddie Griffin).
