Richard E. Grant's languid-paced 2005 film about a boy (Zachary Fox/Nicholas Hoult) growing up during the 1970s in Swaziland who must deal with his unhappy father (Gabriel Byrne) who turns to drinking after his wife (Miranda Richardson) leaves him for another man (Ian Roberts) to the shock of his aunt (Julie Walters) and then must struggle to get along with his stepmother (Emily Watson) when his dad remarries.
