Victims 1918

An educational, disturbing, 53-minute documentary that intersperses and morphs horrific archival black-and-white film footage and photographs with colorful modern-day locations to present an historical record of the Civil War of 1918 between the bourgeois White Guards and the working-class Red Guards in Finland in which more than 38,500 people died either by mass execution, hunger, or disease by focusing on Finnish-Swedish journalist Erik Grotenfelt, who became a member of the White Guard and a notorious executioner, and married painter and lumberjack Matti Ollanketo who was executed after spending 3 months in prison.
