A slow start detracts from this otherwise conversation-provoking, intelligent, well-acted, unpredictable, factually inspired, Steven Soderberg satire filled with intense and often times witty dialogue in which multitasking, sly-as-a-fox, multilingual, pathological lying, pudgy, biochemist vice president Mark Whitacre (Matt Damon), who has a loyal wife (Melanie Lynskey), two adopted children, ulterior motives, and allegedly a bipolar disorder, is pressured by FBI agents (Scott Bakula, Joel McHale, and Allan Havey) to turn whistleblower regarding the worldwide illegal price-fixing shenanigans related to various corn byproducts that he and his embezzling, duplicitous cronies (Tom F. Wilson, Tom Papa, Rick Overton, Tom Smothers, et al.) at Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) in Illinois orchestrated in the early 1990s.
