Young Goethe in Love Striking period costumes and cinematography dominate this engaging, factually inspired, 2010 romantic film, which is based on Goethe's popular autobiography The Sorrows of Young Werther, in which rebellious, creative, wannabe poet and writer Johann Wolfgang Goethe (Alexander Fehling) disappoints his well-respected, attorney father (Henry Hübchen) after he fails his law exam in 1772, and when he falls for the beautiful daughter (Miriam Stein) of a widower (Burghart Klaußner) with several children, he stirs up jealousy with his boss (Moritz Bleibtreu) who is also smitten with the woman.
