When an outspoken 13-year-old student (Ivey Lloyd), who has a talent for singing and lives with her poor mother (Cynthia Jump) and younger brother (Josh Goodwin), goes to work for an ostracized, bitter, disfigured wealthy man (Joseph Paur) who has an operatic voice so that her family is not evicted from their home during the Depression in this family-oriented, predictable, morality-driven, 96-minute, 1993 film, she teaches him that a beautiful heart will make his ugly exterior beautiful while he perfects her singing talent.
