Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets After the duplicitous commander (Clive Owen) is abducted on planet Alpha in 2740 by mysterious, luminous aliens in Luc Besson's enthralling, imaginative, creative, colorful, action-packed, well-paced, entertaining, star-dotted (Ethan Hawke, John Goodman, Rihanna, Sam Spruell, Rutger Hauer, and Alain Chabat), 3D, 137-minute sci-fi film based on a popular French comic book and dominated by stunning special effects, a special military major (Dana DeHaan) and his sergeant partner (Cara Delevingne) head to the planet's dangerous red zone to search for the commander and end up helping alien survivors (Aymeline Valade, Elizabeth Debicki, et al.) whose planet was destroyed.
