Sharp's novel The CIA's Greatest Covert Operation: Inside the Daring Mission to Recover a Nuclear-Armed Soviet Sub in which the CIA tapped billionaire Howard Hughes to build a $500-million ship for the highly classified Project Azorian under the pretense it was for a deep-sea mining operation with its real purpose was to raise a sunken Soviet K-129 nuclear submarine from the Pacific Ocean during the Cold War in the 1970s and to gather intel without the Russians or journalists becoming suspicious as to the true mission and consists of archival photographs and film clips and candid commentary by CIA agents David Sharp and Walter Lloyd, CIA program manager John Parangosky, marine Curtis Crooke, reporter Jack Mitchell, and journalists Hank Phillippi Ryan, Jack Clothery, and Jack Anderson.
