Weak Layers

[Opens Jan. 5 in theaters and available Feb. 6 on various VOD platforms.] When a thirtysomething part-time bartender, part-time ski bum, and wannabe filmmaker (Katie Burrell) and her two reckless, party-happy, shenanigans-indulging, drink-imbibing best friend roommates (Jadyn Wong and Chelsea Conwright) are kicked out of the house that they rent in Lake Tahoe in Katie Burrell's wacky, silly, intermittently funny, cameo-dotted (Elyse Saugstad, Michelle Parker, J.T. Holmes, Connery Lundin, Jonny Moseley, Cody Townsend, Scott Gaffney, and Amie Engerbreston), 91-minute semi-autobiographical comedy highlighted by terrific scenery and cinematography, they decide to earn money by going up against professionals (Evan Jonigkeit, Neal Bledsoe, and KC Deane) by entering the annual Hot Lapse 72-hour competition to make a short ski documentary but in the end the experience caused her to abandon the partying, the glitz, and the glamour and be content with being a "nobody."
