Wicked Little Letters

[Opens April 5 in theaters.] After a religious, straight-laced, duplicitous British spinster (Olivia Colman), who lives with her reserved parents (Timothy Spall and Gemma Jones), begins receiving mysterious, profane, obscene letters in the quaint English seaside town of Littlehampton in the 1920s in Thea Sharrock's delightful, factually inspired, humorous, well-written, superbly acted, dark, star-dotted (Eileen Atkins, Lolly Adefope, Joanna Scanlon, Jason Watkins, Paul Chahidi, Richard Goulding, and Tim Key), 102-minute comedy, a town police officer (Hugh Skinner) arrests her feisty, bawdy, foul-mouthed, widowed, Irish neighbor (Jessie Buckley), who has a daughter (Alisha Weir) and Black lover (Malachi Kirby), and then a spunky policewoman (Anjana Vasan) decides to investigate who is penning the raunchy letters.
