Wicked

[Opens Nov. 22 in theaters.] Spectacular sets, costumes, and special effects dominate Jon M. Chu's captivating, well-acted, colorful, superbly written, wit-dotted, 160-minute musical based on Gregory Maguire's 1995 novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West in which a green-skin woman (Cynthia Erivo), who has a paraplegic sister (Marissa Bode), is ostracized by students at Shiz University led by a duplicitous headmistress (Michelle Yeoh) until she makes friends with her popular, ambitious, pink-loving roommate (Ariana Grande), who both are attracted to a handsome prince (Jonathan Bailey), but their lives take very different paths after they go to the Emerald City to meet the Wonderful Wizard of Oz (Jeff Goldblum).
