UnBroken [Opens Feb. 21 in theaters.] Striking animation highlights Beth Lane's fascinating, heartfelt, award-winning, bittersweet, insightful, humor-punctuated, thought-provoking, 96-minute documentary in which the curious, Jewish filmmaker researches through archival photographs, film footage, journal excerpts, and interview snippets to investigate how her Holocaust-survivor mother Ginger and her five Weber sisters Senta, Ruth, Gertrude, Renee, and Judith and brother Alfons escaped Nazi Germany with the help of compassionate strangers, including farmers Arthur and Paula Schmidt and mayor Rudi Fehrmann, and attempts to retrace her family's journey across Germany more than 70 years ago.
