[Opened May 23 in select theaters and available May 30 on various VOD platforms.] Awesome cinematography highlights Warwick Thornton's compelling, award-winning, superbly written, well-acted, 96-minute film in which a mysterious, 9-year-old orphan Aboriginal boy (Aswan Reid) is brought in the middle of the night to live with other children (Shane McKenzie-Brady, Tyler Rockman Spencer, Kailem Miller, Tyrique Brady, Laiken Beau Woolmington, Kyle Miller, and Tyzailin Roderic) at a remote Catholic monastery run by an alcoholic nun (Cate Blanchett) and another sister (Deborah Mailman) and male workhand resident (Wayne Blairin) 1940s southern Australia, and when the nun discovers the child has unexplainable, supernatural healing powers and is drawn to a statue of the crucifixion of Jesus and then begins to show signs of stigmata, she begins she to show fear and struggles with her Christian faith.
